FLASHBACK: Snow for my 35th Birthday, YAY!

Snow is a rarity where we live...most years! But, going on a few years now, we have had the occasional snow. Very exciting, but sad that my kids are starting their childhood off believing that it snows down here :)


I love the anticipation of a snow fall. It just makes me giddy thinking about all the "fun" things snow brings! It's almost like a pass to sit back and just enjoy. Laundry? It can wait. Dishes? Will eat on paper plates. Wet clothes on the mudroom floor? They'll dry with time.


It makes me happy to think about all the possibilities the day holds!


Some of my favorite "happies" of a snow day:
-staying cozy with a fire
-staying in lazy clothes all day
-drinking hot chocolate
-watching the flurries fall so softly
-scooping up the top layer of fresh snow to make "snow cream"
-getting layered up in gear for a snowball fight
-finding the right accessories for our snowman
-playing a card game or reading a good book


I love that everything is so still.


As unusual as it is for us to see snow in our parts, it is not unusual for me to see snow on my birthday. In the 35 years I have been celebrating I can remember numerous snow days and this year added to the count! It was a great day with our family and one I will cherish.
