FLASHBACK: Scouts/USS Alabama

Shortly after the school year started we received information letting us know that Wes was eligible to join Scouts. After Kris and I discussed it we mentioned it to Wes. The word alone was all he had to hear and he was sold! I feel quite sure his little mind immediately filled with visions of spending starry nights in a tent while the wolves howled all around :)

Wes is our child (so far) that is up for anything, thinks everything sounds fun, and is eager to try it all. We knew he would enjoy it...the trips and adventures would be fun, the badges would be neat, and he'd love the friendships. We just weren't sure if the rest of us could handle it...more meetings, another night away from home, the fund-raising, etc. Luckily for Wes, Momma was at a weak point. "After all, my first born is a FIRST GRADER!! He will be a SENIOR before I look up. How could I be so cruel as to not let him join scouts? After all, where else is my little boy gonna learn the sport of archery?!?!?"

And so the journey began...our very own Tiger Cub!



Night Away on the USS ALABAMA
In early November Wes' Pack had the opportunity to spend the night on the USS Alabama. What fun!! The weekend getaway was for Dads and their sons. They spent time exploring the ship and its history, searching nooks and crannies with their flashlights, and sleeping in hammock-like beds.
